UDAAN
.UDAAN
Udaan, meaning “taking flight,” is a child labour and sex trafficking prevention initiative. We currently operate three child development centres, equipped with classrooms, computer labs, beauty salons, and tailoring centres. These centres are located in Bhiwandi and Govandi in Western India, and in Bithari on the India-Bangladesh border. Many of the children we aim to reach previously worked in rubbish dumps, scavenging plastic and metal items to sell for less than 45 rupees a day. Others worked in hazardous industrial establishments. These children are extremely vulnerable to trafficking, including child labour, sex, and child bride trafficking.
Our focus is on the holistic development of each child. Therefore, our centres provide a learning-friendly environment with a play area for warm-up exercises and engaging activities, as well as a dining area. Children receive two nutritious meals daily at our centres, often their only meals. Our tailored programme ensures they receive a quality education and mentorship within a safe, beautiful facility staffed by trained professionals.
At our centres, we also conduct regular workshops for parents, particularly mothers, through our Moms Empowerment programme. These workshops cover topics such as health and hygiene, parenting, and literacy. We’ve learned that empowering a mother motivates her to fight for and prioritise her children’s education.
Our uniquely crafted child human development initiative is transforming communities. Join us in providing a brighter future for children worldwide.
